This has been a great month for your humble (ok, not that humble) Godwhacker. First Howard @ The Web Pen found me "incorrigible" enough to be included in his "Ranting Round Up". Then Dr. Deborah Serani nominated me for a "Thinking Blogger" award. I don't know how much I actually think (vs. mindless prattle), but given the nominator, I am honored.
I "think" the way this is supposed to work is that I'm supposed to nominate 5 blogs that really make me think. Without further adu here are five:
• Howard Semones' The Web Pen ~ This is one of the funniest stops in cyberspace. Like any good comedian, Howard makes you think while you're laughing. He doesn't just stop at comedy though. He also does current events, culture, & music reviews. I think his taste in music is right on the mark. If Howard gives it a good review, chances are I'll love it too. His blog is original and his music mixes are becoming legend among my friends ~ all that and he does a mean Carol Channing!
• Todd and in Charge ~ Under full disclosure, TaiC (that's the cool abbreviation) and I have been friends since we were kids. That said, his blog usually recaps current event with his insightful narratives added when necessary. But dig deeper, and you'll find some of his original writing and that is where this blog really shines. For example, take this bit of writing from tennis.com The guy has real heart and talent, but Any Major Dude would tell you.
• Fastlad ~ I "met" Fastlad on a third-party's blog a while back. If I remember correctly we had a bit of a spat, but he is a worthy adversary in a debate and, as I learned by reading, an incredibly gifted writer. He lives in New York City, and if ever again I should live in a city, NY would have to be it. By reading his blog, I feel a constant connection to my second home and I am treated to his dazzling writing talents. Although we met in disagreement, we have many of the same likes and dislikes. Communication is the art of bridging differences and building bonds. Thanks for the great reads buddy.
• Dr. Dork ~ DD describes his blog as "Random Reflections, Rants, Rime and Ruminations of a somewhat mad, somewhat sad, physician and patient." A fellow poet, "He" (Doctor Dork is sometimes ambiguous about his gender) has a heart of gold, although he claims to be cranky. His writing is insightful, intelligent, sometimes beautiful and poignant. His location "down under" reminds me how remarkable it is to live in the information age, and I'm not just blowing smoke signals.
• Dr. Deb ~ This is easily the most popular blog on this list, and no wonder. Just take a look at her clustr map, and you'll see dots from everywhere there is an internet connection. No one has taught me more about blogging then her. No matter how many responses she gets on a post, she answers every person with compassion, sensitivity, intellect, and charm. Her blog is a nexus of science, medicine, and psychology that is enlightening, provocative, and always informative. She is also a "trekkie", a Beatles fan, and obviosly a woman of impeccable taste. The only down side is that I can't reach out through the web to give her a hug. Oh well, lets get those transporters on line.
I would also be remised if I did not give honorable mention to every blog on my "Recommended Blogs" section. This list isn't that long, and I aim to keep it that way. Each one makes me "think" a great deal. Together, they represent a large diversity of opinions and talents ~ everyone deserving the "Recommended" label: Infinite diversity in infinite combinations - think on that for a while.

Ahhh, aren't you sweet! Thank you, sir.
BTW, that's the show that Miss Lily was at, so that clip has become extra-special.
I'm flattered, GW.
Also...not many have picked up on my androgyny / hermaphroditism...well done!
Kind regards
Dork
Hey GW,
Mutual adoration right back atcha. And how fun to visit new blogsites. Gonna surf before work.
~Deb
Can I add to the GW love? So glad I found you in blogspace, Godwhacker, thank you so so very much for my honorable mention! Got lots of blogs to check out, thanks showing the way!
Take care, GW! :) :)
Thanks -- I'm in too-good company, for sure.
HI Howard,
you deserve it, but thanks to you, I've had to double my music budget :)
DD,
thanks for your passion, insight, and humor, whatever your gender. If all doctors cared as much as you, the world would be a better place :)
Hi Bonjourtristesse, I read a lot of blogs and picking just 5 was really hard. Especially with ones so quirky and fun as yours out there!
Hi Deb,
